Womb Massage
WHAT IS A SOBADA?
Sobada means to rub, and it’s a traditional healing modality with roots in Mesoamerica. Different cultures across Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala have practiced sobadas as a core part of women’s health and vitality.
This modality centers the womb and pelvic area as the center of a woman’s universe. Through different movements, presence, and soft pressure, it rubs the womb and sacral area to restore balance and harmony in the body.
Sobadas are a practice within curanderismo, and for centuries, this knowledge was passed down through oral tradition within family lineages.
Why Sobadas?
-

Womb Connection
Sobadas work in the physical and energetic body, reconnecting threads, reawakening sensation, and restoring your connection to your womb.
-

Balance & Aligment
This work restores harmony, emotional flow, and proper alignment to your womb through movement, rhythm, and presence.
-

Lymphatic Flow
Through soft and deep touch, sobadas support lymphatic flow and drainage, stimulate circulation, and bring heat to your womb and pelvic area.
-

Life Force Energy
Soften your body to release physical and emotional gripping, bracing, and tensing. This naturally reawakens your life force.
Sobadas are in service of:
Supporting painful periods or irregular cycles
Alleviating digestive issues such as IBS or Crohn’s
Supporting through a fertility journey
Reconnecting with the womb and body
Removing ‘frio’ (coldness) from the womb
Restoring creative flow
Releasing stagnancy in the body and restoring emotional flow
Crossing thresholds and as rites of passage
Reawakening life force energy
Deepening your spiritual journey
WHAT OTHER WOMEN ARE SAYING
CAN I RECIEVE A SOBADA?
A sobada is not recommended if:
You have an IUD
You’re pregnant
You’re menstruating (wait a day before and 1-2 days after bleed to receive the massage)
For postpartum women, you can receive a sobada 6 weeks after a vaginal birth, and 3 months after a cesarean.
By booking an appointment, you confirm that you don’t have an IUD, aren’t pregnant, are within the window of postpartum, and are at the right time in your cycle.
HOW IT WORKS
A sobada is deeply nourishing for the body, the womb, and the nervous system.
Ideally, the massage is organized around your cycle (if you still have one). It’s best to work in a series of three sessions, rather than a one-off treatment, to truly support your body in releasing, rebalancing, and harmonizing.
The ideal flow would be to schedule each session a week apart, and have it happen between bleeds. So, the first session can take place after your bleed, and again two more times, spaced about a week between each, and finishing before your next bleed.
The timing and rhythm of the three sessions allow for a deeper, softer opening of the body while also mirroring the natural flow of your cycle—opening, restoring, and releasing. Each session works on different layers of stagnation, gripping, coldness, and tension that allow the body to unwind and release.
It’s absolutely okay to start with a single massage; you'll still get lots of support and nourishment from it, but to receive the full energetic and therapeutic effects of this work, three sessions are strongly encouraged.
The sobada focuses on the stomach, womb, sacrum, and lower back, using soft to deep touch, depending on each body’s needs. I’ll also use my hand-crafted herbal oils during the massage, for added physical, emotional, and spiritual support.

Steaming has been used by different cultures and across traditions all over the world, and it’s deeply supportive of women’s health.
It is the powerful yet simple practice of bringing warm herbal steam to the vulva, which then reaches the vagina, womb, pelvis, and root area. Steaming supports softening the tissues, releasing stagnation (both physical and emotional), and promoting circulation and flow.
